Rajshahi Institute of Biosciences

ABOUT

Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, or microbes, a diverse group of microscopic lifeforms such as bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, algae and protozoa. Microbes underwrite the earth’s ecosystem, colonize humans and animals and sustain their physiology, invade susceptible hosts to cause illness or death, and represent an inexhaustible source of discovery and engineering tools for research and translational opportunity. To explore the microbial world our curriculum provides broad exposure to multiple disciplines including microbial physiology, microbial biotechnology, molecular microbiology, genetics, symbiosis, pathogenesis, immunology, pharmaceutical microbiology, microbial ecology, microbial genomics and computational biology. Graduates of our program go on to jobs in a wide variety of fields, including health care, public health, pharmaceuticals, drug discovery and design, food safety, industrial microbiology, academic and scientific research institutions.
